Luna Blaise experienced an emotional last day of filming for Manifest. After airing for three seasons on NBC, Manifest was canceled, leaving many cliffhangers and mysteries unresolved. An online campaign and consistently strong numbers on Netflix led the streaming service to save the series for a fourth and final season. The first 10 episodes of season 4 were released in 2022, with the final 10 episodes set to release in June.
While speaking with her friend, fellow actor, and Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen via Interview Magazine, Blaise shared details about the final day of Manifest filming. She mentioned her character Olive Stone delivering an emotional monologue, a moment made even more powerful by the reaction of everyone on set. Check out Blaise's comments below:
“Oh god. We were upstate in the woods of New York, so deep upstate. And it was actually really beautiful because we all got to be together. I was doing this very emotional monologue into a phone. Everyone was there, every cast member, every crew member. They were just watching me. When I finished, everyone clapped and my mom was there. I didn’t realize my mom would come to New York. It was really special. Then we wrapped and immediately went to PaleyFest, and we premiered our show. It was insane.”
Why An Olive Stone Monologue Would Be A Fitting End To Manifest
The last scene filmed is not always the last scene in a television series, but ending Manifest with an Olive monologue would be a fitting choice. During the season 1 finale, Olive was the one who figured out that the Death Date was June 2, 2024. Netflix is releasing the final Manifest episodes on June 2, 2023. The Stone family now knows that the Death Date doesn't just apply to Manifest's Flight 828 passengers, but to all of humanity.
Even though she does not have the Callings, Olive knows a great deal about the Death Date, and has played an active role in trying to stop it from happening. Assuming the series doesn't end with humanity being destroyed by the apocalypse, Olive will deserve a great deal of credit for saving humanity. She deserves a moment in the spotlight, especially for figuring out so much without Callings, and for all she has lost along the way, most notably the tragic death of her mother Grace Stone.
Manifest began with a voiceover narration from Olive's aunt Michaela Stone. Ending with an Olive monologue would be a way of passing the torch to the next generation and bringing things full circle with words spoken by women in the Stone family beginning and ending the series. Of the Stone twins, the focus has often been on Olive's brother Cal, but Manifest is just as much the story of Cal's twin sister Olive.
