Legacies decided to mix things up with the arrival of its newest student at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted by introducing a vampire who is actually "old, old, old-world".
This displaced old-world vampire will be played by Descendants' Thomas Doherty, and we've finally been given a look at how this old soul will be brought to life in a very different modern world.
Here's our first glimpse of Doherty's Legacies character Sebastian, thanks to TVLine.

If you can imagine the ageless charm of a boyish Hugh Grant with the style of Orlando Bloom's Will Turner, you've got it.
Expanding on Legacies' ideas for the character, executive producer Julie Plec told TVLine that the new vampire is in response "to how difficult it is to write a contemporary vampire in this newly woke world".
She continued: "By definition, vampire lore is rooted in denying women agency, predatory culture and all these other terrible things. He's our response to that."

As well as offering some cultural commentary, Doherty's character has been described as "very, very, very smoulder-y", so uh, there's that.
Also joining for season two is Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel alum Alexis Denisof, who will play "urbane British sorcerer" Professor Vardemus.
The professor is described as "a bit of a dandy", who nevertheless becomes popular with the students at the Salvatore School because of his "steadfast belief in the superiority of their supernatural world".
Legacies will return on October 10 on The CW in the US.
