WHY,? Megan Fox Show Off Her Mostly Naked AI Avatars.
Taking over Instagram feeds around the world is the AI art app Lensa, which for a small price, converts selfies into stunning works of art. Actress Megan Fox, never one shy to share amazing photos on her social media feed, is the latest celebrity to jump on the AI art trend. Fox’s avatars though, as mentioned by the Transformers star, came out rather naked.
Megan Fox is perhaps, one of the most beautiful women on the planet. It is no surprise that the app, which reads the images users submit to it in order to re-produce artwork, would create equally gorgeous artwork. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star liked one of the pieces so much, that she made it a new profile pic for her Instagram account.
While Megan Fox is enjoying the Lensa app, others are raising alarms over the unintended side effects from the latest trend. The app’s terms and services says that the company retains “perpetual, revocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable, sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works.” In short, Prisma Labs, the owner of Lensa, has the rights to any digital art created using the app.
The nearly naked Megan Fox avatars now belong to Prisma Labs, which is what happens with every other user of the app as well. Adding to the controversary, is that unlike other social media trends, users have to pay for the AI artwork to be generated. What used to be $3.99 for 50 images has now gone up, in the wake of the app picking up traction on social media, to $7.99 for the same amount of images.

Adding to the issue with the AI art trend is how the images are created in the first place, as the AI software needs to be trained in order to operate effectively. Training the AI comes from feeding it existing digital images until the software can understand the unique set of data points that make up the human face. Megan Fox’s photos were digitized, translated into machine language, run against the existing image database Lensa has access to, and then the digital art was created, using existing faces and artwork as a basis.
Prima Labs CEO Andrey Usoltov, in an interview with Buzzfeed News, says “can never be described as exact replicas of any particular artwork.” In a follow up tweet, “As cinema didn’t kill theater and accounting software hasn’t eradicated the profession, AI won’t replace artists but can become a great assisting tool.” For now, the artwork filling up social media can be viewed as a fun new trend, letting users like Megan Fox create artwork out of their existing photos.
Speaking of the beautiful actress, Megan Fox will soon be back on screen in Johnny & Clyde, as crime boss, with another upcoming role in Taurus, a musical drama alongside her fiancée Machine Gun Kelly. The actress and rapper announced their engagement last year, following two years of dating after her divorce from Brian Austin Green.
